Here in Florida, we have what we call a hurricane season and many let their guards down throughs the end of the season. This year we have a late storm building in the tropics that we are all keeping our eyes on. Here are some tips on getting prepared for storms.

Here are some tips on storm readiness tips:

Sign up for local alerts and warnings. Monitor local news and weather reports.

Stock emergency supplies.

Prepare to evacuate ( if needed ) by testing your emergency communication plan(s), learning evacuation routes, having a place to stay, have cell phones charged, have a list of emergency contacts, and packing a “go bag.”

Collect and safeguard critical
financial, medical, educational, and
legal documents and records.

Protect your property by installing
shuttles, secure loose items, reviewing insurance
policies, and cataloging belongings.

Take photos of the inside and outside of your property including vehicles

During the storm:

Do not run a generator inside your garage or home.

Stay updated with local and national weather sources.

Keep all devices charged and limit the usage during the storm.

Know where your keys are in case you have to get in your vehicle.

If you have to evacuate have a place to take your pets to plan ahead.
